Our Story

In October 2014, members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, met as they envisioned the formation of a new chapter in Charlotte, NC. By 2014, 82 members had completed the necessary documents to become an Interest Group, known as Mecklenburg County Pearls of Excellence (MCPOE).

This began the journey toward chartering a new chapter in the spirit of sisterly love, passion for the community, and zeal for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

With the efforts of those members, Omega Iota Omega officially became the 995th chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority on August 21, 2016.

Since that time, Omega Iota Omega has strived for excellence and impact within the community. With over 150 current members, Omega Iota Omega is committed to the goals of fostering sisterhood, and making consistent efforts to be of “Service to all Mankind,” to the Charlotte community, the Marvelous Mid-Atlantic Region, and beyond.

Omega Iota Omega continues to soar while being committed to sisterhood and service to all mankind.
