Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Mid-Atlantic Region recognized our very own Angelique Burris for #TargetTuesday for February. Angelique Burris (@angeliquebvoice & AngeliqueandMusicalExplosions.com) is a member of Omega Iota Omega Chapter in Charlotte, N.C., who is known throughout the Queen City for her smooth, sultry voice in several genres, including jazz, blues, soul, R&B, and gospel. She started in the church choir as a little girl and went on to major in music education at NCCU, where she was a member of the touring choir and soloist for the jazz ensemble.
Angelique is a school counselor with Gaston County Schools by day; but on nights and weekends, she leads her own band called Angelique and Musical Explosions. The band, which is in popular demand, performs at many noteworthy events in in the Southeast. Angelique sang at the 2019 State of the Union Address by Congresswoman Alma Adams, who is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
